27/5/05 Terry Stubbings Town Crier - We had an interesting and fun talk from Terry on the history and current day practice of the town crier's arts. I felt that the talk was great and that the general tone of the evening was one of fun and relaxation.

I also thought that the presentation was great, very informal but very informative.

It is always difficult to find good speakers who can keep the attention of their audience, I believe Terry achieved that through his outgoing personality and genuine love for the job.
24/8/05 Ursula Lidbetter Chief Executive, Lincolnshire Co-operative Society Easily our best looking speaker to date - and she knew her stuff.

An excellent argument for women in Rotary.  What an asset she'd be in our club.

I thought it was a fabulous talk, mixing ideals of business and ethics in public life with local history and modern day service to the community, an excellent and highly appropriate speaker.

An excellent presentation in a good clear style that left a very good impression of an obvious enthusiast for the subject of co-operatives.   I learnt a lot – and was entertained in the process.

14/9/05 Tony Lake Chief Constable of Lincolnshire
This was an interesting talk combining crime statistics, with humour and information on the future of policing in Lincolnshire.  Listening to his talk I found an interesting number of comparisons between the police and health services in relation to the local impact of national policy on the two public sector organisations.

28/9/05 Andrew Taylor Chief Executive, Lincoln City Council Entertaining speaker, with an obvious passion for both the city and his job.

I thought this might be a routine talk about the City Council - but Andrew managed to make it much more than that with his links to leadership  and the Da Vinci Code. Very enjoyable.

It did seem to me that although Rotary is a non political organisation, the point which Andrew made re people power when speaking about the recent Council Tax increases and the jailing of pensioners for paltry non payment sums, that there is an opportunity through all the charities Rotary supports to mount a massive National voice.  It would be well co-ordinated and use MP's of all parties.

4/10/05 Sandra Longdon South Africa Project Following this talk we have agreed to fund a toilet block for a deprived school in South Africa
26/10/05 Pearl Wheatley Growing up in the war Made me think I ought to write down my own growing up experiences for the information of my children and grandchildren.  Fascinating.

LACE housing

I thought it was an excellent presentation! I have known Frank Eccleshare for many years and although I knew something about LACE I had not realised what an extensive organisation it has now become. I think we should be interested in matters of this sort it is after all a part of our community in which we live,it is part of the fabric of a caring society! Well done Mr speaker finder! ! have suggested that we should have two or three students from the University to speak to us about their view of life as students in Lincoln. We hear plenty of complaints about them with their noise and drinking.

Another excellent speaker who came across very well and has given all of us who knew nothing about LACE an insight into the splendid work this organization does.

The diversity and contribution of organisations to the social fabric of the City never fails to amaze me.  Another excellent speaker in the current series

14/12/05 Judy Theobald Lincoln Life and Christmas Poems As always Judy amused and informed us in her own inimitable way
25/1/06 Ian Hey YMCA - With Young people No comment at present
22/2/06 Rob Bradley Director of Leisure & Tourism, Lincoln City Council He gave us an interesting insight into the complexities of arranging a major public event.
1/3/06 Amanda Jackson Demonstration of figurative art Quite simply one of the best talks we have ever had

So clever & talented - members who were absent missed something special

An absorbing evening in which the skill and passion that Amanda has for painting was excellently demonstrated.

22/3/06 Peter Brown A funny kind of evening with the Gossiper O.T.T.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes - but fun and entertaining

A lively speaker, who confirmed that the Echo does indeed make "a few"! mistakes.

Re O.T.T. - It is extremely difficult to get a balanced programme of speakers and impossible to suit all taste. The time taken to assemble the programme is quite lengthy and, as contacts are lost through members no longer being employed, the task becomes yet more difficult.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I have to say that Peter Browne had many admirers through a column that was established many years ago. This column has virtually ceased now and it cannot have been easy to make any kind of speech at the end of a long career..almost "cut short".   This is not a criticism of "comments" but an observation that it is impossible to please everyone all of the time and the hope is that sometimes members are happy.
26/4/06 Eddie Grantham Lincoln Castle Stuff we didn't know about hangings in spite of our familiarity with The Strugglers
24/5/06 Keith Elms North Kesteven School Passionate about his school and the role of the educator
29/6/06 Andrew Vaughan Common Purpose A forceful and concise presentation on local leadership

An enthusiastic talk on a very community orientated initiative to develop our community leaders and strengthen local purpose

5/7/06 ADG Peter Manton District Rotary Matters Unusually for an assistant district governor he had something interesting and worthwhile to say

Interesting reflections on our club from a fellow local Rotarian, and some good suggestions for new ideas

23 August 06 Peter Banks Development of Lincoln
